New NMMA report powerful tool

I spent most of last week in Washington, D.C. for the 2013 American Boating Congress, hearing from government officials and meeting with legislative staff. (You can read our coverage here.)
As part of ABC, NMMA released an amazing new report that shows the economic impact of recreational boating. While the $121.5 billion economic impact for the U.S. is the headline number, the most valuable thing you can get out of this report is the breakdown by state and Congressional district. Through a partnership with Michigan State University, NMMA updated its 2008 report to deliver a treasure-trove of talking points.
Let me tell you, this got the attention of staff in the office I visited during my hill visits last week. When we could point directly to the report and show why boating mattered to their district, it’s a powerful tool.
Be sure to check it out and gather the numbers for your state and district to use when meeting with your local representatives.
You can download the full report here – it’s a 281-page PDF, so expect it to take a little time.
