Infinity PRV350 by Prospec Electronics

The Infinity PRV350 is the latest marine receiver unveiled by Prospec Electronics for 2015. Given today’s dash cosmetics in the automobile world, Prospec designed this stereo with the car market in mind. It is a well known fact that boat OEMs look to the automobile industry for the latest in colors and design. Thus, it only makes sense that with today’s savvy consumer, “looks” play a pivotal role with boat dashes as well. Infinity is a brand under the Harman umbrella. An estimated 25 million vehicles on the road today are equipped with HARMAN audio and infotainment solutions. Other Harman brands include JBL, AKG, Harman Kardon, and Mark Levinson.

Enter the Infinity by Harman PRV350. The INFPRV350 incorporates a 3.5-inch color TFT (variant of LCD) style screen. This rich colorful display is a stark contrast to the dot matrix style display of previous models. Additional features include AM/FM, Sirius/XM ready, 3 pairs of pre-outs including subwoofer out, auxiliary input, USB input for USB drives, wired/wireless remote ready, and Bluetooth audio streaming with id tagging. Given Prospec’s understanding of replacement stereos in dashes, the INFPRV350 will fit the same cutout as the popular INFPRV250. The Infinity PRV250 was Prospec’s most popular marine receiver ever, thus providing an upgrade without having to modify the dash was a feature that remained a must on Prospec’s development agenda.

The receiver incorporates a scrolling menu system, which allows ease of menu navigation without having to stumble through an owner’s manual. With only 6 buttons, simply navigate and press the Enter button for the feature that is to be selected. Further understanding boater’s needs, the brightness of the screen can be adjusted so that, at nighttime, the stereo does not light up like the 4th of July. The buttons are large as is the viewing area of the screen. Translation=leave the magnifying glass at home. From an installation standpoint, a U bracket cinches the unit to the substrate that it is being mounted to. For added versatility, the receiver can be flush mounted or back mounted. The back mounting method further adds to the automotive style feel.

  1. There’s still license issues with the SiriusXM-Ready. That’s why they haven’t release the fully optioned unit.. Some distributors are selling units without XM-Ready option.. So, be sure to check before purchasing the unit, as to watch one you are getting.
