MANITOWOC, Wis. – Wisconsin’s Manitowoc Marina was sold to a new management company, Manitowoc Marina LLC, as of Oct. 1 this year. The 235 slip marina was owned by Sailboats Inc. of Superior, Wis.
Manitowoc Marina LLC is headed by 25-year marine industry veteran Rich Larson, who is serving as the company’s president and general manager. Larson served as operations and service manager at Manitowoc Marina for 18 years until 2006, when he accepted the position of vice president and general manager at Yacht Works in Sister Bay, Wis.
Larson said managing his own marina is the fulfillment of a lifelong ambition.
Sailboats Inc. had owned the marina since 1985, and Jack Culley, who served as the marina’s general manager since 1991, will be semi-retiring after the end of a six-month transitional period.
Manitowoc Marina is a full-service marina owned by the City of Manitowoc, and Manitowoc Marina LLC will take over the lease and assets. The company said it will continue operations providing marina management, yacht finishing, structural and mechanical repairs, electronic installations and rigging at the certified Wisconsin Clean Marina.
