WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The City of West Palm beach is threatening to cancel the Palm Beach International Boat Show over more than $140,000 in damage the city is claiming the boat show production company caused to the city waterfront, according to Sun-Sentinel.com.
The city filed a lawsuit in August claiming that Show Management caused major cracks in a city platform at the waterfront. Show Management COO Dane Graziano denied that the production company caused the damage.
The 2012 show, scheduled for March 22-25, is dependent on an agreement between Show Management’s insurance and the city, the Sun-Sentinel said.

Keep in mind that there is a trend for municipalities to make claims on a vendors insurance company in order to fix what the city did not have the revenues to maintain and repair themselves. Creative use of O.P.M. (other peoples money)

Statement from Show Management:
We look forward to producing the 27th Annual Palm Beach International Boat Show as scheduled from March 22 to 25 and are making a good faith effort to amicably resolve any disagreement with the City of West Palm Beach. Our goal is to continue working with the City in the same cooperative spirit we have enjoyed in the past to present this remarkable yachting event, which has significant economic impact on West Palm Beach and the many businesses throughout Palm Beach County that provide goods and services to the boat show, its exhibitors and the thousands of people who come from around the world to participate.
