NMMA State of the Industry breakfast set for Feb. 16

CHICAGO – The National Marine Manufacturers Association will host its 2012 State of the Recreational Boating Industry Breakfast on Feb. 16 from 7:30-9:30 a.m. at the 2012 Miami International Boat Show and Strictly Sail.

The event will include a state of the industry address by NMMA President Thom Dammrich, which will provide in-depth analysis on the current and future state of the recreational boating industry.

Four awards will also be presented at the breakfast.

  • Frank Marciano, president of Dometic Marine, will present the Freedman Award. The Freedman award is presented to individuals or groups within the marine industry who have made outstanding contributions to the sport of boating for the benefit of the recreational boating industry and boating public.
  • The Chapman Award, presented by NMMA Chairman and Taylor Made Products President Jason Pajonk-Taylor, is awarded to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the marine accessories industry through leadership, creativity and personal motivation.
  • Zuzana Prochaska, president of Boating Writers International and editor of Talk of the Dock, will present the NMMA Innovation Awards. The Innovation Awards honor innovative and technical achievement.
  • Yachtworld.com Founder Jennifer Muffett will present the Yachtworld.com Foundation, Yachtworld Heroes nominee recognition, which honors individuals, organizations and foundations that aim to further knowledge and protection for the world’s oceans and help change the world through boating.
