Marine industry makes pitch for sales tax reform in Massachusetts

Boating industry advocates in Massachusetts are supporting a bill that would repeal the sales tax on boats built there.
The Massachusetts State Senate held a hearing on the bill, S. 1341, Tuesday. Jamy Madeja, legal counsel and government relations representative for the Massachusetts Marine Trades Association, testified on the benefits of the bill for the state, noting that it would create additional jobs and keep boaters from buying boats in other nearby states with lower or no sales tax on the boats.
