JERSEY CITY, NEW JERSEY (USA) – The technical program for the Society of Naval Architects and Engineers (SNAME) Annual Meeting and Expo (November 6-8 at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue in Bellevue, Washington) features over 50 hours of technical paper presentations, including SNAME papers, Technical & Research sessions, the Ship Production Symposium and Student Papers.
Early registration discounts of up to $US200 for SNAME 2013 are available until October 14.
SNAME Annual Meeting Papers
In this year’s tentative lineup for the Annual Meeting there will be a series of nine papers related to Naval Architecture and Design, including software applications. There are an additional five papers specifically addressing various aspects of small craft design, three papers each in the areas of Marine Engineering, Hydrodynamics and Structures and two relating to environmental factors. Ship Production Symposium
The Ship Production Symposium, hosted by the National Shipbuilding Research Program and SNAME, is an annual symposium that presents original and timely technical papers addressing problems of shipyard techniques and production of merchant and naval ships. It is a forum to discuss the worldwide development of ship production engineering, ship design (including design for production) and other marine technology topics, such as ship operations, shipping economics and safety. Technical & Research Sessions
The T&R Sessions offer timely highlights and issues being addressed through the activities of Committees and Panels responsible for the Technical and Research efforts of SNAME. Sessions range from a panel on nuclear powered commercial vessels, a state of the art study on hydrodynamic load predictions, safe ferry design for poor countries, weight engineering innovations, insights into structural failure on passenger ships, air emission reduction technologies and LNG infrastructure for bunkering. For the first time since the Student Papers track was created, the Student Papers will now be integrated into the main technical sessions with the SNAME Papers and SPS Papers, to allow for more visibility for future professionals in the industry.
