AMTECH loses and friend and board member Steve Marable

The AMTECH association is sad to announce the passing of one its current board members, James Stephen Marable, 56, of James Island, SC. James husband of Cynthia Sanford Marable, entered into eternal rest Saturday, August 17, 2013 after a battle with cancer. Steve was born December 10, 1956 in Charleston, SC, son of the late James Rose Marable and the late Dawn Key Marable. He was the owner of Island Outboard Services in Johns Island, former master mechanic for The Citadel and formerly employed by Dept. of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC). Steve was a former member of the James Island Yacht Club. He was a member and Elder of James Island Presbyterian Church.
James served on the AMTECH board of directors as a member at-large since 2009. He was extremely helpful during the National Marine Service Expo and was always eager to help others. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Marable; a son, James “Jamie” S. Marable Jr., both of James Island; a grandson, Ryder Corbin; and two sisters, Nancy Livingston of Gilbert, SC and Jane Adams of Panama City, FL. He was predeceased by a son, Timothy Marable. The marine industry has lost a true friend and he will be missed by many.
