Dania Beach, FL 9/13 – When the Ft. Lauderdale International Airport was approved for runway expansion, the City of Dania Beach had no choice but to serve this 29 year- established boat dealer and marine outfitter with a notice of Eminent Domain. But Nautical Ventures Group CEO Roger Moore quickly brushed off the problem and saw a new opportunity open before his eyes. He rallied local government leaders and financial institutions to set in motion a plan to create a new, state-of-the-art marine superstore.
With the help of Dania Beach Mayor Walter B. Duke III and various government agencies, this project is being recognized as the fastest relocation project in Broward County’s history. The final result will be a 13,000 square foot showroom constructed on 1.2 acres of prime waterfront land on the corner of Bryan Road and West Dania Beach Blvd.
Ground breaking began in late May. On Tuesday, Sept 3rd the walls of the concrete tilt-up building were erected. Grand opening is expected in early November, right after the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show.
Employees and select vendors were on hand to celebrate the walls going up. “It was a significant day for us because it gave our staff a sense of security in that they will have a new place to work and a tremendous opportunity for growth. You can imagine how unsettling it’s been for everyone not knowing the fate of our relocation,” states Moore. “Now that the walls are erected, the rest of the building should come together very quickly.”
This is a story about turning adversity into opportunity. The end result will bring new employment opportunities and increased revenues generated to the local economy in excess of $20 million dollars annually.
