Company hosts new dealer network at Cadillac, Michigan headquarters
Cadillac, Michigan, October 24, 2013 – Rec Boat Holdings, maker of Four Winns®, Glastron® and Wellcraft® brands, has just concluded their first annual Scarab dealer meeting, held at the manufacturing headquarters in Cadillac, Michigan. New dealers representing more than 120 retail locations in North America attended the two-day meeting. The company held a separate meeting this past August for more than 25 new International Scarab dealers.
The meeting, in addition to introducing the full line of new Scarab boats, was designed to introduce the company operations to the new dealer network, share business plans and philosophies, as well as create a sense of solid foundation from which dealers can grow their business with a new brand of boats. Orders generated at the meeting far exceeded company goals.
“We have been overwhelmed by the dealer response to our new Scarab boat line,” stated Roch Lambert, Group President, Rec Boat Holdings. “Although the jet segment is not new to the industry, dealers are reacting extremely positively to not just our new product, but our entire business plan for jets,” Lambert concluded.
Dealers have been very excited over the company reviving the Scarab brand name. Scarab has a tremendous heritage in the marine industry and Rec Boat Holdings has capitalized perfectly on that equity. In addition, the design of the boats, the innovative features and the company’s go-to-market plan enabled dealers to see and embrace a very strategic global plan that will dominate the market.
After only five months of announcing their entrance into the jet segment, Rec Boat Holdings has already achieved a key component of their business objectives; building a high-performing network of dealers. Along with the recent announcement of MarineMax being appointed a new Scarab retailer, many other high profile dealers have signed on to carry the brand.
Ron Wilson, President of Wilson Marine in Brighton, Michigan stated, “Our team is extremely excited to add the new Scarab boats to our dealership offering. We’ve already had the opportunity to show the new boat to customers and the response was great; we look forward to the boat shows and really showing off this new product.”
Mike Pretasky, Jr., SkipperBud’s President added, “When the management at Rec Boat Holdings shared their vision with us months ago on the new jet project, we were instantly attracted to the opportunity. We’ve had good success with their other brands and believe in their business strategies. I’m confident the new Scarab line will be equally as successful for us.”
The new line of Scarab jet powered boats will be a strong competitor in the fiberglass runabout category with plans to expand the line to additional size ranges in the next few months. Designed to capture the performance heritage of the Scarab brand with the edginess of a jet boat, the new line promises to turn heads on and off the water. With three models to choose from for the 19-foot platform, the company has strategically built a series of boats that will appeal to a broad audience of enthusiasts. The standard model is a basic runabout with rich interior appointments designed to attract the new boat buyer. The Scarab HO provides more horsepower and delivers on the well- known Scarab performance heritage with ease. And, for the real performance-minded Scarab die- hard, the 195 HO Impulse tugs at the inner youth of every boating enthusiast. Exciting graphics and exclusive design elements unmatched in the category provide the Scarab Impulse the ability to capture attention anywhere. The proven Rotax® power provides first class performance with horsepower ranging from 150-250 hp.
The jet propulsion application allows for greater flexibility in the design of the aft portion and cockpit of the boat. With a key objective to differentiate the new jets from the competition, the Scarab line maximizes this opportunity very well. One example is the exclusive Scarab Versa-Lounge seating design at the rear transom. With one-touch convertible seating – including comfort-cushioning, passengers can choose between three different seating configurations. Sunbathing and water sports are made easier and with increased comfort on a Scarab. The open and roomy cockpit and bow are designed for full comfort while cruising or putting the Scarab through the test of jet performance. And, the jet allows for easy maneuverability and shallow water accessibility in order to reach the sandbar before everyone else. Consumers will marvel at the many innovative features designed throughout the Scarab line.
A broad and integrated marketing campaign will kick off in early December, aligned with the kick-off of the boat show season. For more information, stay connected at:
