November 12, 2013 - Centerpointe Yacht Services LLC closed on the acquisition of Great Lakes Yacht Services, Inc. of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin on October 11, 2013, making CenterPointe the largest service yard in northeast Wisconsin.  The purchase includes 4 acres of waterfront land with over 800’ of dockwall, a 70 ton Marine Travelift, and 110,000 square feet of buildings housing six dedicated shops for woodworking, machining & metal fabrication, electrical, engine/mechanical, rigging and fiberglass. The property was formerly owned and operated by Palmer Johnson Yachts. The new facilities have been merged with Centerpointe’s existing service and storage facilities in Sturgeon Bay.  In addition to the shop space, the combined operations now consist of over 100,000 square feet of indoor boat storage and a dedicated 15,000 square foot new and brokerage showroom. CenterPointe’s newly expanded service capabilities range from small outboard powerboats to large custom yachts. CenterPointe will specialize in major repairs including refit and insurance work by taking advantage of the infrastructure established by Palmer Johnson over the years.

CenterPointe also owns and operates a 4 acre waterfront service, storage, and yacht sales facility in Milwaukee formerly known as Harborside Yacht Center. CenterPointe made substantial improvements to the Milwaukee yard earlier this year including the renovation of its Ship’s Store, the purchase of two Marine Transporters, and the addition of a 75 metric ton Marine Travelift capable of hauling boats up to 90 feet.

“We have been on a path of steady growth over the past three years. Our goal is to deliver the best single source boating experience on the western shore of Lake Michigan.” Peter Moede, Principal.

CenterPointe represents Pursuit Boats from Chicago north and is the largest Regal Yachts dealer on Lake Michigan.  In 2013, CenterPointe was appointed Beneteau Powerboats dealer for the Great Lakes region. Beneteau Power includes the following popular lines: Swift Trawler, Gran Turismo, Barracuda and the Monte Carlo MC4 & MC5.

“CenterPointe intends to leverage its three locations to grow its new yacht sales and brokerage business. The acquisition of Great Lakes gives us the opportunity to establish a significant presence in a city with rich boating history which will allow us to better serve the northern half of Lake Michigan.” Craig Duchow, Principal.

CenterPointe was conceived in 2004 on the site of the former Peterson Builders shipyard in Sturgeon Bay and is known for its world class 150-slip, deep-water marina, that can handle yachts up to 200 feet. The marina is located adjacent to the newly acquired Palmer Johnson service yard.
