AMTECH announces an upgrade to its 40-hour outboard training

December 19, 2013, Canton, GA — For a number of years AMTECH has sponsored its 40-hour outboard electronic ignition school that was conducted at the CDI Electronics facility in Madison, AL. Due to changes in technology the association has decided to upgrade this training program and it will be replacing the old program with a new 32-hour fast track advanced outboard course that includes the latest in engine technology including fuel related issues. The new program will also cover all engine diagnostic software programs on the market to include CDI Electronics’ M.E.D.S., Sea Star Solution’s Sierra STATS, and Rinda Technologies Diacom software.

“We felt it was time to upgrade our outboard training program and the new OB-FT32 program will cover more advanced outboard systems and it will be conducted in number cities around the country in 2014, Joe De Marco, AMTECH president says. We are going to be conducting the outboard training program in Camdenton, MO at Lake Career and Technical Center (Feb. 3-7), Houston, TX at the Palmer Power Distribution facility (Feb. 10-14), Litchfiled, IL at the Sea Star Solutions facility (Feb. 17-21), Chattanooga, TN at Chattanooga State Community College (March 3-7), Wareham, MA at North Atlantic Tech (Mar. 10-15), Seattle, WA at Lake Washington Institute of Technology (Mar. 17-21), and Ft. Lauderdale, FL at Broward College (April 14-18). We felt we needed to expose this training to more locations around the country to assist marine technicians in gaining this valuable training and saving them money on travel expenses. Hopefully they can now find this training available at a facility not too far from home.”

In addition to the above mentioned outboard training, AMTECH has also added a new 32-hour fast track advanced inboard I/O engine program as well. The IO-FT32 advanced course will be conducted at North Atlantic Tech in Wareham, MA (Feb. 3-8), Broward College in Ft. Lauderdale (Feb. 10-14), and at Sea Star Solutions in Litchfield, IL (Mar. 10-14).

“In addition to the above mentioned outboard and inboard advanced courses, AMTECH will be doing a number of other training programs around the country as well in 2014, including Evinrude E-TEC, Mercury Verado, Outboard Rigging and Installation, EFI Sensors, Analyzing Sterndrive Failures, Alpha Bravo Systems, Inboard Repower Installation, Inboard Long Block Engine Replacement, Principles of Troubleshooting, Electrical Systems, CANBus Systems Technology, and Business and Service Management, “De Marco says.

Course fees will be in the $500 range depending on member discounts for a five-day workshop or approximately $150 for one-day workshops.
