Larson Boat Group celebrates Earth Day
LITTLE FALLS, Minn – In honor of Earth Day, Larson Boat Group (LBG) has produced the 51,437th VEC® boat hull. Since 1999 Larson Boat Group has been building boats using this patented environmentally friendly manufacturing process.
VEC is a computer controlled process that not only ensures consistency between each and every boat produced through a VEC manufacturing cell, but also produces 91% less emissions than traditional open–mold fiberglass boat building techniques. Annually, LBG’s VEC manufacturing process saves almost 15,000 pounds of styrene emissions from entering earth’s atmosphere.
LBG’s green manufacturing techniques continue with Triumph’s 13 models built with Roplene®. A 100% recycled resin that is used to construct, these literally, almost indestructible boats. The minimum off–fall of every Triumph boat is just a little seed into building the next boat. This too is recycled and used when making into the next Triumph boat.
In addition to our key green manufacturing techniques, VEC and Roplene, LBG continues green practices in key areas of the operation. Here are some of the facts:
- Recycled more than 65-tons of corrugated cardboard
- 40,000 lbs of plastic recycled
- 1,300+ gel-coat drums returned to the supplier to be washed and re-used
- More than 10,000 lbs of aluminum recycled
- Hundreds of pounds of unused foam off-fall are returned to the supplier to be used in other applications
