MasterCraft Unveils the X20, its first dedicated surf boat

New 20-Footer Delivers Full-Size Surf Without Compromise

VONORE, Tenn. – MasterCraft combines the best attributes of its surf-centric technologies and legendary vessel design to launch the new X20, its first-ever boat designed from the fins up to create the perfect surf wave. Good things truly do come in small packages as the 20-footer sculpts larger surf waves typically seen only behind larger size boats yet in a practical size and with a commensurate price.

“With the X20 we put our full attention on doing what it takes to create the ultimate surf boat. That included our science-based development of a new surf hull and combining our surf-specific feature sets together to create the perfect inboard surf wave,” said Terry McNew, president and chief executive officer of MasterCraft. “Wakesurfing is a growing trend that also brings with it a whole new culture and enjoyment. We recognize this and want the experience to be as fun on the water as it is for the audience in the boat.”

MasterCraft’s Dedicated Surf Weapon

Through aspects of design, technology and the user interface working in harmony, MasterCraft has created the ultimate customizable surf experience with the X20. MasterCraft engineers took a scientific approach to developing the ultimate surf wake by modeling and analyzing various approaches. As a result, the new hull is deeper and stouter, resulting in a phenomenal surf wave. Like on all of MasterCraft’s X Series boats, the award-winning Gen 2 Surf System is custom-fit for the X20’s hull. The surf experience can be personalized for every surfer and controlling the X20’s surf system is futuristic yet intuitive – simply touch the optional seven inch Murphy screen to instantly access customized user profiles, fill or drain the 2,000 pounds of stock ballast and instantly shift the wake for regular or goofy riders.

Size without Compromise

The performance, capacity and passenger comfort of the X20 delivers on a scale beyond its 20-foot size. MasterCraft’s signature pickle fork bow graces the X20 providing roomier seating up front. Large capacity storage is made possible by underseat compartments throughout the boat. A brand new set of convertible transom seats make their debut on the X20, allowing passengers on the stern to instantly flip up the sun pads in order to relax and soak their feet in the water.

Accessories and options abound for the X20. Like all MasterCraft boats, the X20 features a powerful, reliable and efficient 5.7 L Ilmor Marine engine. The X20 also offers exclusive tricked-out sound and entertainment system options from JL Audio™ that includes five separate speaker zones, mesmerizing speaker lights and even the ability to light up the wake at night.

MasterCraft dealers will begin taking custom orders for the X20 immediately and the boat will be available for purchase at select dealerships this month. The X20 comes standard with a five year bow-to-stern warranty, the only offer of its kind in the industry. To find out more information about the X20, please visit MasterCraft.com.

  1. Great, MasterCraft is bringing oceanic conditions to your local ponds and lakes. Just think of the applications for this versatile craft. Those neighbors you can’t stand can be washed off their dock with a close pass. Town bathing beaches can use this boat to create surf for the kids to frolic in. Even better, on congested tournament fishing grounds, this boat can generate a wake that will disrupt competitors or even capsize them.
Oh well, with the advent of 47 foot 1400 HP quad center consoles, it’s only logical other manufacturers would do their part to suck up our new found petroleum wealth.
