Outerlimits president dies from crash injuries

Mike Fiore, the president and founder of Outerlimits Powerboats, died Tuesday after being injured in a crash Saturday.

The 44-year-old Rhode Island native developed complications after surgery, according to a statement on the company’s Facebook page. Fiore was injured Saturday morning during the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout.

“The entire Outerlimits family is devastated by the loss of our friend and leader of our company. Mike’s love for high speed boating was only out matched by the love for his wife, three young children and his family. Details on arrangements will be made and released in the coming days, and in the meantime we hope all understand the family’s need to grieve for their loss privately,” said Frank Sciacca, General Counsel of Outerlimits Offshore Powerboat Company, in the statement.

Mercury Racing General Manager Erik Christansen also released a statement about Fiore’s death:

“Mercury Racing is devastated at the loss of our friend, Mike Fiore. Our deepest condolences go out to Mike’s wife, three children and the entire Outerlimits family. Mike was a great friend, leader and partner and this loss is just heartbreaking for all of us.”
