NMRA honors Zack McLanahan with Mel Barr Award

GURNEE, Ill. — The National Marine Representatives Association (NMRA) presented the Mel Barr Award to Zack McLanahan, aftermarket sales manager of T-H Marine. The award recognizes an individual who has contributed to the improvement of the industry and is named in the memory of marine rep Mel Barr, one of the founders of NMRA and its first president. Jonathan Sweet, editor-in-chief of Boating Industry magazine, and NMRA incoming president Brandon Flack made the presentation.

McLanahan started in the marine industry in 1973 as sales manager for Wellington Leisure Products. By 1990, he was vice president of marine sales. In 1995, he became part of the T-H Marine family, directing aftermarket sales efforts.

Involved in the marine industry for over 35 years in various capacities, McLanahan has served as a committee member and on the board of directors for NMMA and NMDA. “Always an advocate for the marine aftermarket business, Zack is well-liked and respected by all who interact with him,” said Sweet during the presentation.
