Torqeedo grows global sales team

CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill. — Continuing to expand its global sales team, the leader in electric propulsion, Torqeedo, welcomes Captain Todd Sims as its new global sales and product manager, hybrid systems. In this position, Sims will lead sales and create opportunities for the company’s newest offering, the Deep Blue Hybrid system.

“Todd is extremely knowledgeable about electric propulsion, including our full range of motors,” said Steve Trkla, president and general manager of Torqeedo, Inc. “We’re glad he’s part of our team and we know he’ll be an invaluable asset as we launch the Deep Blue Hybrid system.”

Sims spent 23 years in the IT industry in both technical and sales positions. For the last eight years, he has owned and operated EPowerMarine LLC, an independent boat dealership located in South Florida specializing in electric propulsion options for today’s boater. During this time, Captain Todd became deeply involved with many different manufacturers’ offerings and customer expectations, successfully bridging this gap with broad industry knowledge and custom solutions. Sims is a USCG licensed captain and is certified by ABYC in marine electrical systems.

“Running EPowerMarine has been very satisfying, but now I’m looking forward to working exclusively with Torqeedo,” said Sims. “The Deep Blue Hybrid product launch is ramping up quickly and I’m connecting with new prospects on a daily basis. This system is generating huge interest from both boatbuilders and individual refit/repower customers as well.”

Torqeedo’s Deep Blue Hybrid is a fully integrated system providing hybrid propulsion and complete energy management on board. It features silent electric propulsion with a supply of electric power from a combination of battery power, solar power generation, re-generation under sail, and diesel generator power. The available electric power can be used to operate everything on board. Deep Blue Hybrid is made for sailing catamarans and monohulls from 40-80′. It is available in power classes ranging from 30 kW to 120 kW.
