Centek receives ISO 9001:2008 quality certification

AMSTERDAM – At the opening of the 2014 Marine Equipment Trade Show (METS) in Amsterdam, marine exhaust systems manufacturer Centek Industries announced that it has met the stringent requirements of the industry’s most widely accepted standard for manufacturing excellence and received an ABS ISO 9001:2008 Certificate of Conformance for its quality management system. “Centek has always relied on industry standards and qualified approval agencies to support its quality commitment, but earlier this year, we decided to put our manufacturing quality system to the ultimate test by applying for ISO 9001:2008 accreditation,” said Centek Vice President of Engineering Jeff Fortner, PE. “We knew that doing so would scrutinize every aspect of our operations, from raw material procurement through customer satisfaction. The exercise gave us the opportunity to reexamine every process of our operations, ensuring that optimal quality procedures were established and being implemented throughout,” Fortner said. Centek celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2012. The company has designed, engineered and built more than 15,000 custom marine exhaust systems for yachts, workboats, military and law enforcement vessels and many of these designs are used continuously to build exhaust systems for thousands of new boats and refits annually. Centek’s engineering staff has more than 80 years of marine wet exhaust system design and innovation experience. Centek is the only registered engineering firm to offer fiberglass exhaust components that are also Lloyd’s Register Type approved and meet or exceed ABYC-P1 standards.
