NMMA to require membership for boat & yacht certification

The National Marine Manufacturers Association will require manufacturers to be members in order to participate in the NMMA Boat & Yacht Certification program, beginning with the 2016 model year, the association announced Wednesday.

Under the previous rules, non-members could pay increased fees and inspection rates to participate in the program.   Current certified manufacturers have through the end of the 2015 model year to join NMMA in order to retain their NMMA Certified status.

This change comes from an effort to further align boat manufacturers that participate in NMMA programs, with the full services and benefits of NMMA membership and the Grow Boating initiative, NMMA said.
