Lightspeed: Parts revenue down for the first time in 14 months

Boat dealer parts revenue ended its 13-month streak of year-over-year increases in May.

Sales were up 1.0 percent over the month of May 2014, according to a report by CDK Global Recreation that uses data from dealers who use CDK’s Lightspeed software. Unit sales and service sales were up while parts sales were down in the report.

The parts department reported its first month of declines since March 2014, dropping 3.1 percent over May 2014. In April, parts revenue jumped 16.8 percent year-over-year.

Unit sales increased 2.3 percent in the 12 months ending in May 2015. Unit sales have been up for four consecutive months after a decline of 1.1 percent in January.

Revenue was up 3.2 percent in the service department over May 2014. Service revenue has now been up for four consecutive months and 13 of the last 15.
