Yamaha introduces its 2016 boat line

Yamaha WaterCraft Group, a division of Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A., today introduced its 2016 boat line that includes three all-new 24’ E-Series flagships featuring premium appointments and technology, along with advanced wakesports capabilities. All new for 2016 are the 242 Limited E-Series, 242 Limited S E-Series, and the 242X E-Series. Yamaha’s 2016 line also includes the 190 FSH Series of center console family fishing boats that was first unveiled at the Miami International Boat Show.

“We surveyed buyers of our top end models, and asked them what else they wanted in their boat,” said Yamaha Watercraft’s Product Manager Scott Watkins. “They told us they just wanted more. More features, technology, comfort and amenities. So that’s exactly what we’re offering in our new E-Series boats – everything that has made Yamaha a top seller, plus a whole lot more.”

242 Limited S and 242 Limited E-Series

The 242 Limited S and 242 Limited E-Series boats build on Yamaha’s top selling 242 Series with features that include:

  • Drive by Wire for smooth acceleration through the RPM range; features RPM engine synch and single throttle lever functionality.
  • Next generation of Yamaha’s Connext helm control system featuring Yamaha Drive Control allows watersports enthusiasts to program GPS-controlled speeds, four different acceleration curves and store rider profiles for quick access.
  • Push Button Start.
  • Upgraded trim level with premium appointments.
  • Premium tower with built-in solar panels and extra-large bimini top that covers 2/3 of the boat (on 242 Limited S E-Series).

242X E-Series

The 242X E-Series boat is Yamaha’s first foray into the high-performance wake sports segment that includes:

  • Triple ballast system produces up to 1,400 pounds of weight for controlling the size and shape of the boat’s wake.
  • Premium sound system: 1,000 watts from two amps, subwoofer, two can speakers, and a 10-speaker sound bar.
  • New Yamaha Drive Control allows water sports enthusiasts to choose a GPS controlled speed, pick from four different acceleration curves and control the percentage fill/drain on each of the three ballast bags. These preferences can then be stored into one of five profiles for quick access.
  • Drive by Wire for smooth acceleration; RPM engine synch and single throttle lever functionality.
  • Dual swing-in water sports racks and mirror.
  • Color-matched upholstery and custom aluminum Bimini Top with solar panel charger.
  • Premium tower with built-in solar panels and extra-large bimini top that covers 2/3 of the boat.

Advanced E-Series Connext functions and new drive control

For 2016, the E-Series Connext system features Yamaha’s new Drive Control. With Drive Control, the driver can easily hold consistent GPS-monitored speed and control rider acceleration and speed preferences with a press of the Connext system touchscreen. Now, riders can enter and save their acceleration and speed profile in the Connext system to the exact tenth of a mile per hour. When that rider is ready to go, the driver simply chooses that rider’s saved profile and pushes the throttle levers to full forward to commence a perfectly smooth ride dictated by that profile.

Exclusive to the 242X E-Series is the ability to independently inflate three ballast bags located in the center storage compartment and under the two bench seats in the cockpit for up to 1,400 pounds of additional weight for wake sports.

In addition to the new features for 2016, the Connext helm control system provides critical information such as water depth, fuel gauge, RPM, compass heading and miles per hour. Scrolling functions provide access to important, but less frequented information including maximum speed attained, miles per gallon, gallons per hour, average speed, trip odometer, elevation and engine temperature.

When anchored, Connext automatically goes into “float mode,” displaying pertinent information such as voltage meter and water depth. If the system detects low battery voltage, an audible alarm will sound telling the driver to start the engines to recharge the battery.

Connext also serves as the entertainment hub of the boat, providing full access to radio and stereo controls, satellite radio, Bluetooth connectivity and USB connections. The Connext joystick control provides additional quick access controls for top level Connext navigation including Home, Scrolling and Volume as well as access to Yamaha’s Cruise Assist and No Wake Mode.

Yamaha’s Advanced Responsive Handling features the Articulating Keel

The Articulating Keel from Yamaha is the latest advancement in directional control technology for Yamaha jet powered boats.

The Articulating Keel serves as an extension of the boat’s keel, but with a trailing component that moves and tracks through the water in perfect relation to the jet pump nozzles. Steering response is immediate.

Straight line tracking at all speeds is effortless. High speed cornering stability at speed is significantly enhanced, which improves the overall comfort of passengers. With this patented advancement combined with the other features in Yamaha’s Advanced Responsive Handling, overall maneuverability around docks or at speed is as good or better that any sterndrive model.

The Articulating Keel is found on all of Yamaha’s 24-foot boats, and for 2016, it is included on all 19-foot boats.

Yamaha Quiet Cruise

All three models feature Yamaha Quiet Cruise, a ground up, platform-based system of sound dampening that creates a quiet, comfortable ride for all on board. Yamaha Quiet Cruise significantly eliminates the amount of engine noise and vibration that enters the cabin to allow the driver and passengers to engage in conversation at all speeds and enjoy their surroundings.

Premium deck features

Beginning at the bow, the high bow lines create a comfortable, spacious seating area for passengers big and small. The anchor locker/bow ladder compartment allows the anchor to be deployed without any interference from the reboarding ladder. Completing the bow are stainless steel handrails, stainless-steel cup holders, and premium marine vinyl seating that is hinged to make access to the expansive under-the-seat storage more convenient.

Moving into the cockpit, there are dual captain’s chairs. The port side chair reclines with self-leveling arm rests and 180-degree swivel action to observe water sports. In front of the port side chair is an entertainment console that features three storage areas, a lockable glove compartment, and a versatile netted storage on the port side for coolers, a garbage bin, or gear bags. The entertainment console also features a fold down host table, and beverage center that is perfect for serving drinks and food.

Also on the port side is an expansive head compartment with a large solid, wide-opening door for easy entry and exit, as well as comfort appointments including shelving and storage options.

Exclusive to the 242X E-Series is premium color-matched marine vinyl, carbon fiber-textured inserts, an oversized billet aluminum rear view mirror, and a premium Gussi Italia sport steering wheel.
