boats.com celebrates YouTube milestones

boats.com, a division of Dominion Marine Media (DMM), has achieved two major milestones on its dedicated boats.com YouTube channel in recent weeks. More than 5 million video views have been delivered, and more than 10,000 subscribers have joined since the 2009 launch of the channel.

With boats.com emerging as a leader among the many sources of online content boating enthusiasts have to choose from, the milestones mark a great achievement for the portal. It is fast becoming the go-to source for online video content for the boating community.

Featuring more than 600 videos and 34 playlists, the boats.com YouTube channel provides viewers with a wealth of informative and entertaining videos, including boat reviews, boat tests, how-to videos, special features, and information about new boats, boats for sale and boating products.

A good example of boats.com’s standout content is its recent partnership with RAM Trucks to develop a unique series of educational videos which have proved popular and informative for users, boosting both video views and subscribers to the channel. The series of six educational videos provides best practices and advice on towing a boat and has been positively received by the boating community. In fact, the  first video in the series, offering safety tips for trailering a boat, saw rapid and widespread engagement, generating more than 10,000 YouTube views in less than two weeks.

Katie Jackson, brand manager for boats.com, said: “We are very pleased to see the boats.com YouTube channel reach these two major milestones. They are a real endorsement of its popularity and growing reputation as a resource for boating enthusiasts. In 2015, experts believe that video will take up 57% of consumer internet traffic — almost four times as much as web browsing and email. By 2018, the number is expected to increase to 79% of consumer internet traffic1. This Fall, our video production teams will attend the Cannes Yachting Festival and the Southampton and Fort Lauderdale International Boat Shows to capture the launch of the newest boats for our audience through our First Look Video program.

“We’re constantly looking for new ways to engage with our audience and drive viewer figures. It is really positive to see the channel experiencing such healthy growth, especially at a time when video content is a key tool for online marketers. We are dedicated to producing video content for our customers and boat users alike, as we set our sights on the next milestones for the boats.com YouTube channel.”

boats.com launched a dedicated German YouTube channel earlier this year – boats.com Deutschland – which has been delivering increased engagement with the German audience. Other DMM YouTube channels for YachtWorld, Boat Trader and Dominion Marine Media continue to have high levels of traffic, video views and subscribers.
