The 2012 Top 100 Dealers
Learn how the top dealers are setting the pace for the marine industry.
Industry statistics show that 2011 was a year of slow recovery for the battered boating industry.
For the Top 100, things were even better, as 2011 proved to be a year of robust growth for the top boat dealers in North America. And although we don’t have those final numbers yet, they were also very optimistic about how 2012 was shaping up.
The Top 100 Dealers embraced the challenges of our industry’s new reality and reshaped their businesses to meet them, from adding new revenue streams to adopting new brands to finding the right marketing mix.
More than three-quarters of the Top 100 increased revenue in 2011, compared with 63 in 2010. The Top 100 sold nearly 4,000 more boats in 2011 than 2010 – an increase of 28 percent. Dealers increased sales in every boat category except used outboards and used sailboats.
As a group, the Top 100 far outpaced the growth in the industry, which as a whole had 6 percent growth in 2011 to $32 billion, according to the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA).
The Top 100 alone accounted for $1.1 billion in total revenue – an increase of 16.4 percent from the 2011 list. That number climbs to almost $1.8 billion when our three Hall of Fame companies are included.
