Exhibitors have three years to prepare, but Miami International Boat Show organizers are still not happy with the possibility of having to share the city with the Superbowl, according to the Miami Herald.
Cathy Rick-Joule told the Miami-Herald that the Super Bowl coming into Miami on the same weekend as the International Boat Show would drive up the cost of hotels around the city, and Miami-Dade Tourism Director William Talbert told the publication that there aren’t enough hotel rooms in the city to host the Super Bowl alongside the boat show.
“It’s going to be a huge burden then. I would suspect it’s going to be a big turn-off,” Rick-Joule told the Miami Herald. “A lot of our mom-and-pop [exhibitors] are a two- or three-person outfit. They can’t justify spending two or three nights in a hotel for those rates.”
