Welcome to this week’s Social Media Monday, where we answer your social media questions.

You can submit questions via the comments below or by email to jonathan.sweet@boatingindustry.com.

Are most dealers using phone-cams, or higher quality video cameras to make videos for YouTube? And, what length do you shoot for?

You can make it work either way. The great thing is that the cameras on most smartphones are as good or better then the standalone cameras we could buy just a few years ago.

Many dealers are doing fine shooting with just an iPhone and editing the video they shoot through iMovie. If you’re going to be shooting a lot of video, it’s probably worth investing in a better camera. This also makes it easier to use the video for other applications, such as TV commercials or promos to play in your showroom, for instance, on an HD display.

As for length, you’ll want your finished product to be just a couple of minutes long. Even five minutes seems like an eternity for an online video. Be clear, concise and to the point.
