Boating Industry announced the Top 100 boat dealers in North America at a black-tie gala Wednesday in Orlando.

“These dealers represent the best of the best in the marine industry,” said Boating Industry Editor-in-Chief Jonathan Sweet. “From thousands of dealers across North America, these companies stand out for their financial performance, dedication to customer service and creative marketing.”

For the second year in a row, Legendary Marine of Destin, Fla., topped the list and was named the Top 100 Dealer of the Year.

“Legendary wowed us with the wave of improvements the company made over the last year, from the Five Star Military VIP Program to the Legends Boating Club,” Sweet said. “It’s a record that made it nearly impossible for us not to recognize Legendary for the second year in a row.”

Boating Industry also recognized seven other companies with special “Best in Class” awards:

  • Best Digital Strategy – Marine Connection, West Palm Beach, Fla.
  • Best Boat Show Strategy – Russell Marine, Alexander City, Ala.
  • Best Industry Advocate – Port Harbor Marine, South Portland, Maine
  • Best Training Program – Colorado Boat Center, Johnstown, Colo.
  • Best Customer Service – Gordy’s Lakefront Marine, Fontana, Wis.
  • Best Service Department – Woodard Marine, Hydeville, Vt.
  • Best Marketing – Buckeye Marine, Bobcaygeon, Ontario

Strong’s Marine of Mattituck, N.Y., and national retailer MarineMax also received special recognition for their recovery efforts from Hurricane Sandy.

This year, the Top 20 members of the Top 100 were ranked, with the remaining 80 being recognized as Top 100 dealers. For complete coverage of the 2013 Top 100, be sure to check out the December issue of Boating Industry.

Could you please clarify the locations of each recipient? We have many members with similar names of other facilities throughout the country. We would like to acknowledge this terrific honor but can’t be certain some are in based in Massachusetts. Thank you.

I would like to first congratulate all the winners I’m sure they are deserving how ever I think this program is very flawed. There is no meckenisem to verify any of the information provided to the jugging body nor do you visit any of the locations you score. In the past you have scored participants in your top ten that are no longer in business and in some cases are convicted fellons and or in jail. These dealers left our banks floor plan providers and manufactures holding the bag. For this reson I have not Partisapated in this program for the last five years I would like to see you improve your system and have accountability it would serve our intudsty in a more credible way.
