Two Illinois congressmen are urging their colleagues to increase the national diesel fuel tax for commercial vessels by 6 cents a gallon.

U.S. Reps. Dan Lipinski (D-Ill.) and Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) said the funds are necessary to pay for much-needed improvements to infrastructure.

California boaters will be required to pass a safety course under a new bill signed into law by Gov. Jerry Brown.
